According to Krasnodar show reviewers on the Russian forums, Alexei was taken to the hospital by ambulance during the intermission between the first act and the second act, after he had performed "Overcome" and the encore to "Winter" during the March 7th show. Then according to the news articles, doctors performed the appendix surgery on the 8th.

I haven't seen any more news stories yet besides the initial ones.

Since there seems to be some discrepancy on the recovery time meant in the Izvestia article (the other articles all translate to "one month" quite clearly and by all computer translators). The Dictionary.com translator has Dmitry as saying "seventy days" - two other translators (Prompt, Altavista) as "seven-ten days," and one (Google) at "seven to ten days." Since context is everything, and Dmitry is basically saying Alexei is being released and shouldn't be out of operation for too long, I'm going to surmise that he actually means seven to ten days off the ice. So unless he was misquoted - wow - because the doctors are being quoted in all the other articles as saying one month.

Okay, this is a tabloid, so you have to take everything they write with a grain of salt and always on the uber dramatic side, LOL. But here's a photo of Alexei with the doctor, and the article basically says Alexei released himself yesterday and flew back to Moscow.

Anyway, here are new Alexei photos from the Photo Express, probably from still in his hospital room and about to be released. That looks like a pretty big bandage to me! He looks very nice in blue, though...
